Meet Master Trainer - Stephen Kalil
Stephen Kalil has been training dogs since the early 2000s, beginning at just 12 years old with a passion that evolved into a lifetime dedicated to understanding canine behavior, rehabilitation, and handler development.
With decades of hands-on experience, Stephen has become widely known for his work with reactive, aggressive, and difficult dogs specializing in cases many others refuse to take on. His approach is raw, direct, realistic, and built for the real world.
Stephen believes training should prepare handlers for the worst-case scenarios, not just the easy moments. His system focuses heavily on teaching owners how to remain calm, structured, and in control during high-pressure situations involving reactivity, aggression, overstimulation, fear, or environmental stress.
He is especially known for helping handlers with:
Severe leash reactivity
Human and dog aggression
Fearful and defensive behavior
Public control and accountability
Environmental exposure training
Real-world obedience
Handler confidence under pressure
Advanced communication systems including E-collar work
Stephen’s philosophy is centered around clarity, accountability, structure, and leadership helping owners understand not only what to do, but why they are doing it. Over the years, he has built a reputation for transforming overwhelmed handlers into confident leaders capable of safely handling their dogs in situations they once avoided completely.
As the owner and Master Trainer of Ghost K9 Academy, Stephen has created a tactical-style training environment designed to challenge both dog and handler while building trust, confidence, and control that carries into everyday life.
Because true rehabilitation is not about avoiding problems. It is about learning how to face them correctly. -
Meet Lead Instructor - Joyce
Joyce is the Lead Instructor of the Rhode Island division of Ghost K9 Academy and represents exactly what the Ghost system stands for — dedication, growth, loyalty, and leadership.
Her journey did not begin as an instructor.
It began years ago as a student herself alongside her dog Baxter.
Through years of hard work, consistency, education, and hands-on experience, Joyce worked her way through the system from handler to instructor, developing a deep understanding of not only dog behavior, but the struggles handlers face every day.
That experience is what makes her different.
Joyce understands what it feels like to be overwhelmed, frustrated, embarrassed, or unsure where to turn with your dog — because she lived it herself.
Today, she specializes in:
Reactive dog rehabilitation
Structured obedience
Public access training
Handler confidence building
Real-world environmental exposure
E-collar communication
Group class instruction
Known for her calm demeanor, direct communication, and strong handling skills, Joyce has become a respected leader within the Ghost K9 system and continues helping handlers create structure, accountability, and clarity with their dogs.
Joyce believes training is not about quick fixes or gimmicks.
It is about building trust, communication, and leadership through consistency and accountability. -
